Red Velvet: The All -Time Greatest Bands and Artist

SM Entertainment formed and manages the South Korean female group Red Velvet (; RR: Redeubelbet). They originally debuted on August 1, 2014, with the single “Happiness” featuring Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, and Joy as the group’s four members. Yeri joined the band in March 2015, after the publication of their debut extended play, Ice Cream Cake. Red Velvet’s music reflects their name sonically: their predominantly-pop “red” side occasionally experiments with electronic and funk, while their “velvet” side concentrates on ’90s-influenced R&B with ballad and hip hop elements. Their genre diversity and catchy melodies have garnered praise from the critics.

The Korean-language discography of Red Velvet consists of two studio albums, one reissue album, one compilation album, and ten extended plays, twelve of which have led the South Korean Gaon Album Chart. Their singles “Red Flavour” and “Power Up” topped the Gaon Digital Chart, while “Dumb Dumb”, “Russian Roulette”, “Rookie”, “Peek-a-Boo”, “Bad Boy”, “Psycho”, and “Feel My Rhythm” all landed in the top three. The female group has released two studio albums; one of them is a compilation album, and the other is a reissue album. Together, these two albums make up the girl group’s discography. In addition to that, there are a total of 10 extended plays, several of which have simultaneously occupied the number one spot on the South Korean Gaon Album Chart. ‘Happiness’ was the group’s debut single, which was released in August 2014. This is their fourth album to debut at number one on the Billboard World Albums chart, making them the K-pop female group with the most number-one albums on the chart. In January of 2018, a reissue of the album titled The Perfect Red Velvet was released.

In 2018, they released their first Japanese EP, #Cookie Jar, as well as Summer Magic and RBB. Their second Japanese EP, Sappy, was released in 2019. The ReVe Festival trilogy consisted of “Zimzalabim” from The ReVe Festival: Day 1, “Umpah Umpah” from The ReVe Festival: Day 2, and “Psycho” from the compilation album The ReVe Festival: Finale.

The EP Queendom and the main single with the same name were released in 2021. The ReVe Festival 2022: Feel My Rhythm, the Japanese studio album Bloom, and The ReVe Festival 2022: Birthday were all released in 2022.
