BTS Butter Breaks Another Record, Becoming the First K-Pop Song to Appear on Spotify’s “Songs of the Summer” Playlist

BTS’ latest single, Butter, has been smashing records and establishing trends all over the world since its release. The K-pop septet is undoubtedly on a record-breaking spree with Butter. Butter has now been added to Spotify’s ‘Songs of the Summer’ playlist as the first Korean track.

On June 30, Spotify revealed a list of the top 10 songs from its “Songs of the Summer” playlist. Butter by BTS was ranked sixth on the list. With this, Butter becomes the first Korean artist’s song to be included on the list. Other tracks on the playlist include Dua Lipa’s Levitating, Olivia Rodrigo’s Good 4 U, and Doja Cat’s Kiss Me More, among others.

Since 2015, Spotify has released a “Songs of the Summer” playlist each year. The playlist is chosen by the app’s music editorial board and includes songs that are expected to become worldwide hits during the summer months.

Meanwhile, BTS has broken the record for the biggest K-pop song to achieve 300 million Spotify plays. Following last year’s massive super Dynamite, Boy With Luv, and FAKE LOVE, among others, this is the group’s sixth single to reach this mark. BTS Butter, which was released on May 21, also holds the world record for most plays in a single day.

In just one day, the song racked up a whopping 113 million views. Aside from that, Butter reached a world record by being at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for the fourth week in a line. Butter is the 13th single in Billboard Hot 100 history to spend four weeks at the top. In the meantime, BTS will release the CD edition on July 9.
